Really nice church with some fantastic medieval paintings on what looks like to be the remains of a rood screen. Very nice carved pew ends probably from the same time at the paintings. Worth a visit as ots a short walk from the Castle or Priory.

I'm fascinated by historical architecture and one of my side projects in my long-term photography project is to visit as many churches as I can as I travel around the UK.
I recently visited Castle Acre Priory and as St James the Great Church is only a few minutes walk from the priory it was a no-brainer to visit it.
It has a very heavy wooden door, and for some reason I am obsessed with doors and doorways! Inside the church is very well kept with some lovely stained glass.
The graveyard is well maintained with some headstones dating back hundreds of years.
The church was built in the 15th century and is a fine example of Perpendicular Gothic architecture. The church is home to a number of interesting features, including a carved wooden screen, a 15th-century font, and a set of 17th-century stained glass windows.
It is well worth a visit if you are visiting Castle Acre.

Lovely church and grounds, clearly a church in active use in the community which is nice to see.

Very nice church with an interesting painted screen depicting saints. There is also a painted pulpit and an extravagantly carved and painted font topper.

Lovely church and nice services on throughout the year.
Wheelchair access is okay but not fantastic, but is good considering the age of the building, reasonably accessible toilet provided.

Beautiful building. Beware the church is actually about 100 metres past where Google maps shows.
